Annual Meeting - PhD Translational Research Competition

FCACC Annual Meeting logo

The uncertainty of the next ninety days has led us to serious discussions with our Disney partners and the ultimate decision to not hold the Annual Meeting in person this year. The community that comes together for one incredible weekend of education and interaction was simply not feasible.

It is now time to pivot and adapt our annual meeting from a place of in-person connection to a virtual platform that brings together our community in a different but vibrant way. Thank you for your support of the chapter.

PhD Translational Research Competition
PhD Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to submit research abstracts and case studies in the PhD Translational Research Competition to be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. See eligibility requirements below.

Timing and Submission
Abstracts and case studies may represent work in progress or may have been previously submitted for publication or presentation at a national meeting in 2020. Further, abstracts or case studies submitted in this competition are not precluded from submission for future publication or presentation. The PhD Translational Research Competition is part of a regional meeting and, clearly, will not preclude the PhD Student or Postdoctoral Fellow from submitting the abstract in a future endeavor. Please note a maximum of four submissions will be considered per first author. Abstracts and case studies are to be submitted electronically via Oxford Abstracts by June 19, 2020. Paper and emailed copies will not be accepted.

Eligible Competitors
All PhD Students or Postdoctoral Fellows are eligible to enter the competition who are enrolled in a training program in Florida, provided they have been in their program since August 2019.

Review, Selection and Notification
Submissions will be reviewed by a Chapter panel of cardiologists and PhD scientists. Selected abstracts and case studies will be chosen for poster presentation via the virtual meeting. Presenters will be notified on or after July 10, 2020.

Additional Considerations
PhD Students and Postdoctoral fellows entering the competition must have significantly participated in the research endeavor (to be confirmed by their program).
